Plans are a common basis for change

LET'S FACE IT, Nothing goes to plan. I learned long ago that plans are simply a common basis for change. They allow us to pivot from one context to another that has radically changed. That has been true on S/V Tiburon. We had planned on leaving for Hawaii this last April. Instead, this year has become the year of surgical procedures.

Mary has had two knee replacements. She is recovering from the procedures, and doing so with her normal aplomb. But we have had to postpone our trip to 2026. The benefit that Mary has derived from the procedures is great, her pain has diminished greatly and she is enthusiastic about sailing. There is a recovery timeline that one must simply accept or face the possibility of diminished range of motion.
We have taken advantage of the time to have work done on Tiburon. She now has a wind generator -- long story there, but that is for another post -- that has enhanced our capabilities to remain energy independent. We have added Starlink. I felt like the lone holdout in the cruising community with this one. We will be upgrading our autopilot and redoing some of our running rigging.
Life at Cat Harbor remains peaceful and it is our preferred place on the California coast. We have created a YouTube channel, too. Please do subscribe and share!
